About This Test
This test looks at the tiny markers in your bird DNA that reveal whether it carries the pattern for male (ZZ) or female (ZW). It is a simple and dependable method used by many breeders and owners who want answers long before visual clues appear.
No guessing. No waiting for maturity. You can collect a blood sample as early as day 1 after hatch. We simply turn that little drop into a clear, science based result, delivered with the gentle touch of our moonlit homestead lab.
Sample Type
A small amount of blood collected on a clean cotton swab (or similar tip). This is an easy and trusted approach that dries quickly and keeps the sample stable for testing.

Turnaround Time
Most results are ready the next day after your samples arrive at Little Haven DNA. Please allow up to 72 hours in case the lab is busy or samples arrive late in the day.
You will receive an email as soon as your samples are logged into the system. Using a shipping method with tracking is recommended so you can see when your envelope reaches the lab.
