How Little Haven DNA Works

Little Haven DNA does not mail collection kits. All samples are collected at home using simple supplies such as coffee filters or cotton swabs.
Order your tests online
Create a free account and choose the DNA tests your flock needs.
After you check out your dashboard will ask for a few simple details
about each bird you are sending.
Bird ID is simply the name or band you use at home so we can tell
each feathered friend apart.
Once your order is submitted your dashboard shows a clear order code
and an easy progress trail. You will receive email updates at each
stage so you always know what comes next.
Collect and mail your samples
When your order is placed it is time to send in your samples.
You will not receive a kit in the mail. Everything happens
right at home with simple supplies such as coffee filters
or cotton swabs.
Collect a tiny blood spot, let it dry, and label each sample
with the matching number from your dashboard. Then tuck your
samples into an envelope and mail them to the Little Haven lab.
You can use any shipping method you like. A service with tracking
is recommended so you can watch your envelope on its journey.
Get your results
When your envelope arrives at Little Haven DNA your samples are logged,
tested, and carefully guided through the lab process.
You will receive an email as soon as your samples are checked in
and another as soon as your results are in progress and complete.
All finished results appear in your account dashboard where you
can view them any time and print certificates for each bird to
keep with your records.
