American Teddywidder
A wooly dwarf lop project focused on sweet temperament, compact structure, expressive heads, and careful coat quality.
About American Teddywidders
The American Teddywidder is a developing rabbit breed in the United States. It is best known for combining a compact dwarf-style body, lopped ears, a rounded head, and a soft wool coat.
Because the breed is still developing, breeders are working carefully toward consistent type, manageable wool, healthy structure, and reliable temperament. Little Haven's page will grow as our program develops.
What Makes Them Different
American Teddywidders have a very distinctive look. They should read as small, round, wooly, and balanced, with the ears lopping naturally instead of standing upright. The goal is not just a cute rabbit, but a rabbit with structure that can support its body, coat, and quality of life.
Their wool coat is part of the appeal, but it also means coat care matters. Families should expect regular handling, grooming, and coat checks so the rabbit stays comfortable.
Temperament
Teddywidders are often selected for friendly, people-oriented personalities. As with any rabbit, daily handling and a calm environment help babies become confident companions.
Structure
Breeding decisions should protect balance first: body, head, ear carriage, bone, and overall soundness matter more than one flashy feature.
Coat Care
Wool requires more maintenance than a normal rabbit coat. Brushing, clean housing, and early coat training help prevent mats and stress.
Development
The breed is still being refined. That means responsible breeders track type, health, temperament, and consistency over multiple generations.
Our Little Haven Focus
Our American Teddywidder program is being built slowly and intentionally. We are interested in rabbits that are healthy, easy to handle, correct for the direction of the breed, and pleasant for families to live with.
More details about our lines, colors, planned pairings, availability, and care expectations will be added here as the program grows.
More Coming Soon
We will continue adding photos, program notes, grooming guidance, litter updates, and availability information for American Teddywidders.
