Our story

Little Haven DNA was born from a lifelong fascination with genetics. Ever since I was a kid, I was captivated by how traits pass from one generation to the next. That curiosity followed me into adulthood through countless breeding projects and eventually led me deep into the world of poultry genetics.

My journey became serious when I fell in love with breeding ermine Ameraucanas. Understanding dominant white, co dominance, and the recessive white pathways pushed me to learn real lab techniques so I could confidently map my flock. That study opened the door to even more species, and one day I hope to expand into rabbit genetics as well.

Along the way, I began raising high quality birds and bunnies for local 4H kids so they could compete with strong, healthy animals. Seeing how much accuracy matters for young exhibitors inspired me to build a testing process that is both precise and approachable and especially accessible. My protocols and workflow were developed directly under the guidance of a working geneticist, and every test is processed with strict hands-on care. It was very important to me that my website was designed so even these 4H and FFA children could navigate the process and be responsible for their own flock and breeding programs.

Alongside this, I homeschool my three daughters, and Little Haven DNA is my full time job. This lab is not just a business — it is what supports my family, fuels my passion, and lets me teach my girls the value of science, hard work, and dedication. When you place an order you are helping a real family keep doing careful work that matters.

Why our lab is different

Little Haven DNA is proudly a woman owned, family powered, hands on laboratory, not a faceless corporation or a giant processing center. It is a small, dedicated lab run by a real person who genuinely loves genetics, breeds the same animals you do, and understands how important clear answers are.

Every envelope is opened by hand by a real person who understands the animals you raise, the projects you are working on, and the excitement of discovering what your flock carries. Every sample is logged, scanned, and tested individually. I talk to my customers, learn about their breeding goals, and celebrate every blue egg, every successful pairing, and every exciting hatch right alongside them.

If you ever have questions about your results or want help planning breeding pairs, you can reach out directly and talk to the same person who processed your sample. Accuracy matters, but so does connection. And that connection — that personal care — is what makes Little Haven DNA different.

Accuracy matters. So does the feeling that someone on the other side of the lab bench cares about you and your animals. That balance is what this little moonlit lab is built for.
